Dentures are an artificial replacement for your teeth. Patients may require dentures if they have suffered from an accident, disease or experienced poor oral health care. Your oral healthcare provider will help you understand what procedures will be needed to restore the natural function and appearance of your mouth; Some patients may require the replacement of all teeth or only a few teeth. Dentures are offered in Partial or Complete types, however, for both types the procedure will remain the same. For the creation of dentures a specialist will create a model impression of your teeth and then custom-made dentures will be created for you.
Complete Dentures are exactly what you imagine when you think of "dentures". Complete Dentures offer a full replacement of the upper and lower teeth. This is a perfect solution if you have begun to experience dental deterioration, dental decay or dental trauma. Although you may think of dentures as just being only for elderly individuals, this is not that case; Dentures are common in all-aged adults (when should you get dentures?). Dentures will require relines, replacements and repairs over time through their regular usage and as your bones and gums begin to shrink, it's recommended to continuously maintain good denture cleaning habits and book regular checkup appointments with our Denturist Michael Seles to maintain healthy dentures

Acrylic Partials are not as strong and tend to break more often and more easily.
Cast partials are not as bulky, so you will have more room for your tongue to move while eating and speaking.
It is a good idea for a couple of reasons.:
1. It will help maintain the position of the natural teeth and stop them from moving or falling over.
Cast Metal Partials are supported by the teeth and sit firmly in place. Acrylic Partials sit on the tissue and because of that, there is movement. That movement allows the clasps to move up and down and can cause damage to the tissue or the tooth it is in contact with. The movement also decreases efficiency when chewing.
Once the natural teeth are removed, the bone “shrinks” because there is less blood flow and bone stimulation to maintain the bone. If you are healthy and maintain your weight, it shrinks slowly. If you get sick or loose weight, the bone shrinks faster.
If you put weight back on, the bone doesn’t regenerate, and the dentures stay loose.
Most people need to come in for permanent relines around the 2 to 3 year mark because the bone never stops shrinking. Some people go longer, some need relines sooner.
Check ups are usually suggested once a year.
